My old friend Aya, from Japan (now a Melburnian) has just celebrated Muku's first year. Muku stock's organic products, mostly children's wear form Japan and New Zealand. You'll find Aya and Anju working hard at Muku Monday to Saturday down on Glen Eira Rd, Ripponlea.

Little Toys

A toy joining the flock. No face yet in these pictures. I didn't realise how great the colours were together until I started lining them up as I finished stitching up their stuffing holes!

Sleepy-Mo

Finally a way to use teeny-weeny pieces of wool. It's SO hard to throw them away but they pile up and up. You might not believe it but I have about 5 x 140lt tubs full of scraps! That's 700 litres of wool scraps....then there's the 30 x 55lt tubs of big bits. 1650 litres of jumpers! I have to stop calculating, it's far too worrying.
Anyway, little grey and aqua Sleepy-Mo, made from the above piece, is second from the left. He has nice little eyes made from wool felt by Winterwood. It's the first time I've used real wool felt and I love it. It just can't be compared to the poly-nylon-blah-blah-blah from Spotlight!

April's Quilts

Unearthly-creature

A creation for Milly Sleeping's BORROW exhibition which was way back in March but I'm the worst blogger so I'm only getting around to telling you now! Each exhibitor was encouraged to use found flotsam from their studio. Mine was a sweat top and hat barnacaled by wool and cotton jersey.....and I'm extremely excited that the hat has sold! I hope to see someone maybe cycling around the streets of Melbourne with jersey mohawk flying.

Pene Re-Constructed

My lovely Penelope Durston jumper that I bought from Milly Sleeping then promptly grew out of has had new life sewn into it!

Baby Doll

I've been learning how to use some of the more interesting features on my camera rather than just 'auto' all the time. I think this might mean a lot more posts from me! These are all photos from home....but I'll get around to photographing the studio soon too! (and some of the up-coming pieces of work).

Talia at the Show

Our little stall at the Stitches and Craft Show a couple of weeks ago. Talia did all the hard work while I snuck away and got married in the rain.

MY OLD ROOM

Talia and I are working around the clock (from 10 till 6 anyway) to get ready for the Stitches and Craft Show, which is proudly associated with Living Creatively. WORKING WITH SILK

I mentioned the new silk scarves yesterday so here's a little peek. Also the beginnings of silk cushions, which are now complete and to be found at Planet Furniture in Sydney.

HAND KNITTING

I love hand knitting and I've recently been experimenting with knitting up strips of fabric.  My hand knit cotton jersey scarf is my favourite.  I've even managed to find a few days in this wild hot summer we are having in Melbourne, to wear it.  I'm making kids ones with little buttons to keep them on and beanies to match.  If you pop down to Craft Victoria you can also find scarves knitted up from recycled t-shirts and others from silk strips.
